Così la redazione di PopMatters, esattamente un anno fa, annunciava la sua classifica dei “100 Best Albums of the 2000s”. La linea editoriale della storica rivista online statunitense, fondata nel 1999 da Sarah Zupko, è orientata - come da nome - al pop, in tutte le sue sfaccettature, dal mainstream all'indie: non stupitevi quindi se in questa lista saranno questo tipo di sonorità a risultare prevalenti, ma non mancano anche capisaldi di altri generi, dall’hip-hop all’elettronica, dal country all’alternative rock.
