Il magazine Rolling Stone si è lanciato in un’impresa ambiziosa: selezionare i 100 migliori album punk di tutti i tempi. Una classifica che potete confrontare con quella di OndaRock.
La testata americana ha introdotto la sua nuova classifica con queste considerazioni: “Il punk rock è iniziato nel 1976 a New York, quando quattro cretini del Queens inventarono una variante mutante di bubblegum blitzkrieg. La rivoluzione che ispirarono divise in due la storia del rock & roll. Ma anche se il punk rock nacque come una forma di negazione — un richiamo a una semplicità spoglia e brutale — la sua varietà musicale e la sua forza emotiva trasformativa furono immediate e restano impressionanti. Per celebrare il cinquantesimo anniversario dell’influente debutto omonimo dei Ramones, abbiamo compilato una lista dei 100 più grandi album punk di tutti i tempi”, scrive Rolling Stone Usa, recisando che se “Ramones” fu l’anno zero del punk rock, non arrivò senza precedenti: “per questo abbiamo incluso precursori essenziali come gli Stooges, i New York Dolls e Patti Smith, artisti che erano punk nello spirito prima ancora che lo stile avesse un nome. Quando il punk esplose, fu una deflagrazione di idee e possibilità. Accanto a Sex Pistols e Clash, Black Flag e Descendents, Bad Brains e Minor Threat, troverete i Gang Of Four che mescolano ritmi funk e slogan marxisti, il gelo goth dei Joy Division, le visioni country esistenziali dei Mekons, le radicali riot grrrl come Bikini Kill e Sleater-Kinney, lo ska punk di Rancid e Operation Ivy, i pop-punk multiplatino Green Day e Blink-182, e le nuove forme dell’hardcore di band come Turnstile e Soul Glo”.
