Joni Mitchell pubblica un brano inedito del 1971-’72 – Ascolta “Like Veils Said Lorraine”

Una canzone inedita di Joni Mitchell, registrata tra la fine del 1971 e l’inizio del 1972, l’anno di “For The Roses”, agli A&M Studios di Hollywood. Si chiama “Like Veils Said Lorraine” ed è stata ora pubblicata dalla cantautrice statunitense, all’interno del cofanetto “Joni Mitchell Archives, vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975)”, la cui uscita è prevista per il 6 ottobre.

Il brano nasce da un dialogo con una agente immobiliare chiamata proprio Lorraine, che le stava mostrando le sue proprietà nella British Columbia, come racconta la stessa Joni nelle note di copertina di “Archives Vol. 3”: “Aveva un aspetto tipo Marlene Dietrich. Era bionda platino ed era elegante. Aveva vissuto in Cina con il marito, quindi era un poco mondana… e affascinante. È un resoconto della nostra conversazione. Le case sono importanti per me e so come sceglierle”.

Il box includerà rarità, tracce inedite, demo, versioni alternative e registrazioni dal vivo, come l’intera performance del 1972 alla Carnegie Hall, e altro materiale legato a tre album della musicista, “For The Roses” del 1972, “Court And Spark” del 1974 e “The Hissing Of Summer Lawns” del 1975. Quale anticipazione, prima di “Like Veils Said Lorraine”, era stata pubblicata una nuova versione demo di “Help Me”.

L’ultimo album di Mitchell è il live “At Newport”, istantanea del concerto del grande ritorno sulle scene che si è tenuto al festival folk nell’estate 2022.
