Beth Orton annuncia il nuovo album “The Ground Above”: ascolta il singolo “Waiting”

Beth Orton ha pubblicato qualche tempo fa "The Ground Above", un brano di otto minuti all'insegna di un elegante art pop. Ora si è appreso che si tratta della title track e del singolo di apertura del prossimo album della cantautrice britannica, in uscita il 26 giugno per Partisan. Insieme all'annuncio di oggi è arrivato anche un nuovo singolo, intitolato "Waiting". Il brano inizia come una ballata per pianoforte scarna e malinconica: "I’ve been waiting for the hurting to stop/ I’ve been waiting for the punchline to drop", canta Orton nei versi iniziali, prima che il brano si trasformi in una cacofonia jazz ingannevolmente allegra (si può ascoltare qui sotto).



Per l'album "The Ground Above", interamente autoprodotto, Beth Orton si è avvalsa della collaborazione di un'intera crew, tra cui Nick Hakim, Tom Skinner, il polistrumentista Shahzad Ismaily, Sam Beste dei Vernon Spring, i batteristi Chris Vatalaro (Antibalas, Radiohead), Vishal Nayak (Nick Hakim), Paul Butler (The Bees e Michael Kiwanuka), il trombettista Christos Styliandes, il bassista Tom Herbert e il chitarrista Dave Okumu.
