Bryan Ferry celebra 50 anni di carriera solista con la maxi-raccolta “Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023” da 81 brani

Bryan Ferry ripercorre la sua intera carriera da solista con una colossale raccolta, intitolata “Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023” e contenente ben 81 canzoni. L’antologia include i brani preferiti dal catalogo del leader dei Roxy Music, numerose cover, rarità, una nuova traccia intitolata “Star” e altro ancora. L’album da cinque dischi si apre con il primo singolo da solista di Ferry, una cover di “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall” di Bob Dylan, e include anche una nuova cover della canzone del 1965 di Dylan “She Belongs to Me”.

“Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023” uscirà il 25 ottobre su etichetta Bmg. Sarà disponibile in formato digitale e come raccolta da cinque dischi, comprendente un libro con copertina rigida di 100 pagine tra note di copertina, fotografie e memorabilia. Un’edizione condensata, “The Best Of Bryan Ferry”, sarà pubblicata anche in formato doppio vinile e singolo cd.

L’edizione deluxe include un primo cd “Best Of” di 20 successi; il secondo (“Compositions”) recupera altri brani meno conosciuti del suo repertorio; il terzo disco (“Interpretations”) mette in luce le cover; il quarto presenta la musica di quel retro-jazz ensemble denominato “The Bryan Ferry Orchestra” (con materiale per lo più tratto da “The Jazz Age” del 2012 e “Bitter-Sweet” del 2018), mentre il disco finale (“Rare and Unreleased”) contiene 16 rarità e quattro tracce inedite.

Il lavoro più recente di Ferry, “Bitter-Sweet”, risale al novembre 2018.

L’anno scorso, Ferry ha celebrato il 50° anniversario della sua carriera solista, iniziata nel 1973 con l’album “These Foolish Things”, mentre nel 2022 i Roxy Music hanno portato avanti un tour celebrativo in America e nel Regno Unito.
