Joy Division: le dieci canzoni divenute iconiche grazie ai versi di Ian Curtis, secondo Far Out

Oggi Ian Curtis (Stretford, Uk, 15 luglio 1956) avrebbe compiuto settant’anni. Per ricordarlo, il magazine britannico Far Out gli ha dedicato una selezione di 10 canzoni dei Joy Division rese iconiche proprio dai versi composti dal frontman. “Le liriche di Ian Curtis – scrive Jack Whatley nell’introduzione – rappresentano uno dei vertici poetici del post-punk. Pur avendo lasciato un catalogo relativamente ridotto, il cantante dei Joy Division ha raccontato con straordinaria intensità alienazione, modernità, fragilità e tormento interiore. Dopo il suo suicidio nel 1980, quei testi hanno assunto un significato ancora più profondo, diventando il punto di riferimento per generazioni di ascoltatori. Oltre al contributo musicale di Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris e del produttore Martin Hannett, furono proprio le parole di Curtis a definire l’identità della band, grazie a una scrittura sincera, ricca di immagini evocative e capace di trasformare esperienze personali in poesia universale”, conclude Far Out.
