Prince: a settembre uscirà la ristampa di “Sign O’ The Times”

La Prince Estate ha annunciato per il prossimo 25 settembre una mastodontica ristampa, “Sign O’ The Times“. Il titolo riprende quello dell’album pubblicato nel 1987 e annoverato dalla critica musicale tra i più riusciti del Folletto di Minneapolis. La gestazione del disco fu travagliata: Prince iniziò a riunire in un unico lavoro due progetti separati intitolati rispettivamente “Camille”, incentrato sull’androgino alter-ego dell’artista, e “Dream Factory”, quest’ultimo destinato ai Revolution. Prince pensò originarimente di intitolarlo “Crystal Ball” e di stamparlo su tre dischi, ma la casa discografica costrinse l’artista a ridurne il formato, trasformandolo così in un doppio album che si sarebbe poi chiamato “Sign O’ The Times”. 

La reissue conterrà di base 45 brani, mai pubblicati, recuperati dagli sterminati archivi di Paisley Park. Nell’edizione Super Deluxe saranno presenti, oltre all’album rimasterizzato per l’occasione, un intero live registrato a Utercht nel 1987 e uno speciale di capodanno dello stesso anno tenutosi a Paisley Park in cui compare anche un duetto con Miles Davis. È possibile pre-ordinare la ristampa di “Sign O’ The Times” scegliendo tra due formati per la Super Deluxe Edition: 8 CD o 13 Lp, entrambi accompagnati da un booklet di 120 pagine contenenti testi autografi di Prince, immagini dell’artista inedite e note a cura di Dave Chapelle e Lenny Kravitz. In aggiunta, è stata disposta anche la ristampa in tiratura limitata in 7″ di tutti i singoli estratti all’epoca dall’album. Di seguito la corposa tracklist della ristampa Super Deluxe.
